Jake Harris Unveils Addiction Secret After Caught Stealing Pills on "Deadliest Catch"

Jake Harris, left, with his father Captain Phil Harris on "Deadliest Catch" (Discovery Channel)

NEW YORK (CBS) There was high drama on the high seas Tuesday night on the Discovery Channel's "Deadliest Catch."

In this episode, Captain Phil Harris tries mightily to motivate his slacker son, Jake, but without any appreciable results.

Ill with back pain, he calls a halt to fishing and looks for his medication. That's when he discovers Jake has been stealing his pills.

"You're a thief and a liar," the elder Harris rages, telling he son he wants nothing to do with him once they reach shore. Jake pleads with his father and finally admits, "I'm an addict."

The confrontation between the two comes a week before an emotional episode that shows the Captain suffering a stroke.

Earlier this year, Captain Harris died of complications from a stroke he suffered on January 29 while in port off-loading at St. Paul Island in Alaska.
